KOEL (Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited) and Greaves Cotton are two of India's well-established diesel generator brands — widely used in industrial facilities, commercial buildings, telecom towers, hospitals, and warehouses across India. KOEL markets its DG sets under the iGreen brand name, while Greaves historically used MWM (Motoren-Werke Mannheim) engines imported from Germany in its older models. Both brands use copper-brass radiators across their DG set range, making them easy to repair and recore at our Worli, Mumbai workshop.

KOEL iGreen sets running continuously in factories and telecom installations develop calcium and rust scale inside copper tubes over time. Cooling efficiency drops by 30–40%. We flush, descale, and restore full cooling capacity — often without needing a recore.
Older Greaves MWM radiators (10–20+ years old) have brass tanks that become brittle with age and develop hairline cracks or stress fractures. We fabricate replacement brass tanks in-house at our Worli workshop, matched to the original MWM radiator dimensions.
The inlet and outlet hose fitting joints on KOEL iGreen radiator tanks loosen and leak from vibration over time. We re-seat, solder, and pressure test the hose nipple joints to eliminate the leak permanently.
Greaves MWM 816 and 1013 series radiators develop tube-to-header joint failures from the combined effect of age and thermal cycling. Individual tube failures repaired, or full recore where multiple tubes have failed.
Both KOEL and Greaves DG sets running 5+ years with infrequent coolant changes show overheating from blocked cores. A thorough flush and descaling or recore restores full cooling and prevents costly engine damage.
KOEL sets in factories and construction sites suffer fin damage from dust clogging and rough cleaning. Bent or clogged fins are straightened and cleaned, or replaced where damage is extensive, to restore proper airflow through the radiator.

KOEL (Kirloskar Oil Engines Limited) is a Kirloskar group company, and KOEL iGreen DG sets use Kirloskar-based engines. The radiators are similar in design and construction — copper-brass, similar core configuration — but KOEL radiators may have different external dimensions and tank configurations from pure Kirloskar DG set radiators. We service both, and our experience with the Kirloskar engine family helps us service KOEL iGreen radiators very effectively.

Both are possible, but a blocked or scaled radiator core is the more common cause of overheating on KOEL iGreen sets that have been running for several years. A failed thermostat is a secondary possibility. We recommend bringing the radiator to our workshop for a pressure test and flow check — if the core is partially blocked, a flush and descale will resolve it. We will also advise on thermostat if the radiator checks out fine.
