Cummins is the most widely used international brand for medium to large DG sets in India — especially in data centres, hospitals, IT parks, and industrial plants. Cummins DG sets span the widest KVA range of any brand — from 125 KVA to 1200 KVA — and use both copper-brass and aluminium radiators depending on the engine series and model year. Ajanta Radiators has deep experience repairing and recoring both types at our Worli, Mumbai workshop.

The Cummins K19 and KTA series are known for stress cracks at the header tank-to-core joint under thermal cycling in continuous-duty operation. We repair or replace the header tanks and pressure test to full operating pressure.
Newer Cummins QST30 and KTA models with aluminium cores develop electrolytic corrosion in Mumbai's coastal environment — pinhole leaks appear over time. We replace the aluminium core or upgrade to copper-brass for longer life.
The inlet and outlet fitting joints on Cummins radiator tanks are a common leak point on QSB and QSL9 series. We replace or re-solder the fitting assembly to eliminate the leak permanently.
QSL9 radiators used as backup DG sets in data centres show fin corrosion from acidic coolant (overdue coolant change). We replace the core fins or fully recore as needed to restore cooling capacity.
K19 and KTA38 sets running at 80–100% load overheat when the core is partially blocked by scale. A full flush and descaling, or recore where needed, restores cooling to original specification.
Large Cummins KTA50 sets sometimes use remote radiators with extended coolant piping. We repair both the radiator core and the pipe connection joints at the radiator inlet and outlet.

| Inspection Point | What We Check | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Core Size | Height, width, thickness, number of rows and tube layout | Ensures exact fitment and correct cooling capacity |
| Material | Copper-brass or aluminium construction | Decides repair method, recoring material and expected life |
| Tank Condition | Header tank cracks, inlet/outlet necks, cap neck, mounting points | Weak tanks can cause repeat leakage after core replacement |
| Pressure Test | Leak testing before and after repair | Confirms radiator is ready for generator operation |
| Airflow Side | Fin damage, dust choking, oil contamination and blocked airflow | Blocked fins cause overheating even if coolant side is clean |
| Coolant Side | Rust, scale, sludge and chemical corrosion inside tubes | Internal blockage is a major cause of full-load overheating |
This Cummins page should link strongly to the main pillar page and all service pages. This helps Google understand that Ajanta Radiators is a specialist company for generator radiator repair, radiator manufacturing, radiator recoring and industrial cooling solutions.
Yes — header tank cracks on Cummins K19 radiators are a common and very repairable failure. We clean the crack area, solder or braze the joint, and pressure test the radiator to operating pressure. If the header tank is severely cracked or corroded at multiple points, we fabricate and replace the tank entirely. The K19 is one of the Cummins engines we service most frequently at our Worli workshop.
Yes. We repair aluminium Cummins radiators by TIG welding for cracks and epoxy for minor pinhole leaks. For KTA38 and KTA50 sets running 24×7 in data centres, hospitals, or factories, we strongly recommend replacing the aluminium core with a copper-brass core — better corrosion resistance, easier repair if needed again, and longer service life in Mumbai's coastal humidity.
Minor leak repairs (header crack, hose joint): 1–2 working days. Core recoring for 125–500 KVA Cummins sets (6BTA, QSL9, K19): 2–4 working days. Larger radiators (KTA38, KTA50) or new radiator manufacture: 5–7 working days. We give you a confirmed timeline after receiving and inspecting the radiator at our Worli workshop.
Yes. We manufacture new copper-brass and aluminium radiators for all Cummins DG set models including the K19 (500 KVA). Share your Cummins engine model number and DG set KVA on WhatsApp — we confirm the specification and pricing within a few hours. Most Cummins models up to 500 KVA can be ready in 3–5 working days.
Internal scale and rust buildup inside the copper or aluminium tubes is the most common cause — the core becomes partially blocked, reducing coolant flow without any external leakage. This is particularly common on QSL9 and K19 sets running on untreated or old coolant. Flushing and descaling often restores full cooling capacity. If the core is severely blocked or corroded, recoring is the next step.
For Cummins DG sets running 8 or more hours per day — especially in data centres, hospitals, or factories in Mumbai — the copper-brass upgrade is strongly worth it. Aluminium cores on continuous-duty sets in coastal Mumbai develop pinhole leaks from 5–7 years onwards. Copper-brass lasts significantly longer, is easier and cheaper to repair if needed, and gives better heat rejection at high load. The upgrade cost is recovered within 2–3 repair cycles avoided.
