Know these signs. Each one is your DG set telling you the cooling system needs attention before a serious breakdown occurs.
The single clearest warning. If your DG set temperature gauge reads above normal operating range — typically above 88–95°C depending on engine — shut down immediately and investigate the cooling system. Do not continue running.
Green, orange, or pink liquid pooling under your genset means a radiator or hose leak. Identify the source before the next run. Even a slow drip will eventually drain enough coolant to cause overheating.
Open the radiator cap (only when COLD) and check coolant colour. Fresh coolant is green, orange, or blue depending on type. Brown or muddy coolant means rust and scale contamination — the cooling system needs flushing and the coolant needs replacement urgently.
If you top up coolant more than once between scheduled services, there is a leak somewhere in the cooling circuit. Find and fix it immediately — a slow leak becomes a fast leak, then an engine overheat.

Brown or muddy coolant is a clear sign of internal corrosion and scale contamination. Many operators top up with fresh coolant over degraded coolant instead of doing a full drain and flush. This accelerates internal damage significantly.
